Was stuck at home on a wonderful Sunday. Cooling morning brought by the blissful rain early in the day to make me have a wonderful sleep. Just the perfect day to hug my bolster and cuddle under the blanket.
*Ok!! back to reality... was actually at home cause no one jio-ed me out and there was no where that i could possibly go....so i stoned at home to be a couch potato*
Spend the day watching lame kids programs and dumb retro shows like 最佳拍档 (wonder how come i used to like this kinda shows..) but luckily i catched some constructive program. National Day Rally...
The National Day Rally speech is a speech given by the prime minister to rally fellow Singaporean citizens. To gather support, meet out the direction that Singapore will be heading in the next few decades and the new policies that the government will be implementing to improve the economy.
It was the first time that i ever listen to the National Rally Speech cause i thought it was suppose to be boring, But heck.. what can be more boring than staying at home reading lect notes?? And it turn out to be quite a captivating speech by Mr Lee Hsien Long.
But i found something funny about what he said... he mentioned about extending the age of retirement and he qouted an example of a front desk recep at a SPA centre. That companies would seek only age below 35 and turn away job seekers that are 40years old as their recep. What such companies need is only a front desk recep and as such, an experienced worker is more qualified for the job rather than stating age as their judging criteria..Companies should change their mentality!!
What i think Mr Lee missed out about this point is.. he qouted a bad example!! LOOK!! we are examing a SPA saloon here!! SPA equates to BEAUTY = RELAXATION = PERFECTION = YOUTH!! Not much people would fancy going to a SPA centre where they are greeted by a erm... AH MA.. Its an unspoken rule that recep are supposed to be young beauty ladies who wear mini skirt to work everyday n soak their face in make-up powder before they report to work. You shldn't blame the poor company for practising such marketing strategies to compete.
Then he touched on the part about building up the Marina region with this and that.. WAH!! I was fascinated and in fact looking forward cause this would mean that i would have more place to hang out... but WAIT!! MORE CONSTRUCTION = MORE BLANGAHS!!! Arghhh.. i cannot picture this anymore!! Have you ever taken a walk down your popular tourist spot that your so proud of during National Day?? (<---Sentosa) The pearly white sand, blue lagoons are all contaminated by those blangahs!! Wearing just a nearly translucent cotton CROCODILE UNDERWEAR running along Palawan Beach stepping on the hot babes lying on the sun in their bikini... Climbing trees and playing tug while we were playing beach volleyball. OMG!! i can imagine the vast of marina being dotted with BLangahs having their picnic in future.....HELP!!! But still Mr Lee did motivate me with his speech.. the togetherness of Singaporeans as a whole n the identity that we carry with us. GOOD SPEECH MR LEE!!
